Classic lemonade is a lot simpler to make than you may think. Thanks to the lemon juice’s natural power to dissolve sugar, there’s absolutely no cooking required. You don’t need the additional step of making a syrup by boiling sugar and water, having to cool it down, etc.
I change up the traditional ratios in my lemonade by increasing the amount of lemon juice. I also try not to dilute the lemonade too much with water. Remember, you will likely be serving this with ice cubes so you want to make it slightly more concentrated (unless are you sneaky and froze some of the lemonade in an ice cube tray – to ensure that as the ice cubes melt, the flavour does not dilute!)
I don’t typically “drink my calories,” and lemonade is more of a once-a-year type of an affair for me. So I make it extra sweet and lemony! Might as well go all out!
Juice the lemons and pass the lemon juice through a fine-mesh-sieve. Add the sugar and stir until it's fully dissolved. Add 2 cups of water and stir to combine. Taste, and add more water if desired, keeping in mind that the ice cubes will further dilute the flavour. Pour the lemonade into the glasses filled with ice and garnish with extra lemon slices. Enjoy.
